How to reset oil service light Pontiac Solstice GXP.

The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change your engine oil and filter based on vehicle use. Anytime your oil is changed, reset the system so it can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a situation occurs where you change your oil prior to a CHANGE OIL SOON message being turned on, reset the system. 

After changing your Pontiac Solstice GXP engine oil, the system must be reset as follows:

  1. Turn the ignition to ON/RUN, do not start the engine.
  2. Push the info and reset buttons on the Driver Information Center (DIC) at the same time to enter the personalization menu.
  3. Push the information button to scroll through the available personalization menu modes until the Driver Information Center DIC screen shows OIL-LIFE RESET message.
  4. Push and hold the reset button until the Driver Information Center DIC screen shows ACKNOWLEDGED.
  5. This will tell you the warning light has been reset.
  6. Turn the key to LOCK/OFF.

If the CHANGE OIL SOON message comes back on when you start your Pontiac Solstice GXP, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the reset procedure.

    I have a Pontiac Soltice GXP. My turbo boost display is missing from my info screen on the dashboard display and my traction control button is not turning off, or going in competitive mode. Anything I can do to reset the ecu maybe, or other ideas? Thank you very much.

    1. Hello Adam, i don’t think this problem can be reset without a diagnostic software and a specialized program for Pontiac Soltice GXP.

    1. I do not think, in this case you have to remember when was the last time you change oil engine and filters.
