Reset GM Oil Life System as follow:
- Turn the ignition to run, one position before starting engine.
- Press the fuel information button (located on instrument panel cluster above steering column) until ENGINE OIL LIFE appears in the display.
- Press and hold the select button (arrow button) for 5 seconds while ENGINE OIL LIFE is displayed. OIL LIFE RESET will appear on the display for 10 seconds to let you know the system is reset.
- Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
The GM Oil Life System shows an estimate of the oil’s remaining useful life. It will show 100% when the system is reset after an oil change. It will alert you to change your oil on a schedule consistent with your driving conditions. Always reset the engine oil life after an oil change.

- Turn the ignition key to RUN with the engine off, one position before starting engine.
- Fully press and release the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds.
- If the OIL LIFE RESET message flashes for 10 seconds, the system is resetting.
- Turn the key to LOCK.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure. If it still does not reset, see your dealer for service.
