How to replace the coolant recovery tank on Audi A4 B7 made in the years 2005, 2006, 2007 or 2008. The only tools you will need for this repair are a Phillips screwdriver and a pair of pliers.

     The replacement process is very simple. In the beginning, you have to take off the plastic cap of the recovery tank and empty the coolant system. To do that the easy way, you can use the draining cock located behind the radiator, on the lower part. It should look pretty much the same as the one marked in the picture below.

     At this point, using your pliers, you will have to remove two clamps, one on the top and the other one on the bottom, that hold the hoses of the tank. Next, unscrew the Phillips bolt shown in the image below and you will be able to remove the coolant recovery tank. Be careful not to damage the hoses, as they can be quite tight. Use your pliers again if is necessary.

     After you detach the bottle, you can install the replacement. Pay attention because the plastic piece has two tabs that must fit back into their holes (see picture below). Do that and reverse the whole repair process presented above. Fill up the system with the appropriate coolant agent and check its level occasionally for the first few times you run your car.
