DIY, replace the air filter on VW Golf TDI MK4

Do it yourself, replace the air filter on your Volkswagen Golf MK4, the model equipped with the diesel engine, TDI. You will need a T25 torx screw driver for this replacement, a new air filter and about 10 minutes of your time.

     First of all, open the hood of your car and look after the air box. This is the black plastic box shown in the image below, that contains the air filter. You can reach the filter easily, by removing the lid of this air box, which is held by seven T25 torx screws. We marked one of them with the red arrow below, the other six are around the air box.

     After you loosen all those screws, because then don’t actually come out completely, you can lift the lid of the air box and remove the old air filter (as you can see in the next picture).

     Now, before installing the new air filter, clean the bottom of the air box for any debris or dirt using a rag or better, a vacuum cleaner. After that you can install the new and compatible air filter. In the end, reinstall the lid of the air box and secure it with the seven screws and you are done. This is all you need to know, if you wish to replace the air filter on your Volkswagen Golf TDI MK4.
