DIY, remove the front door panel on your Dodge Ram 1500, the model produced between the years 1994 and 2001. You will need a 10 mm socket with a ratchet and extension, a flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver and a putty knife. The removal process will take you less than 20 minutes.
After you open the front door, on the driver’s side, you will have to remove some retainers that hold elements on the door panel. You can start with a 10 mm socket, by removing the bolt behind the door handle. Then, with a Phillips screwdriver work on three screws. Two of them are located at the bottom of the door pull and one on the interior corner of the door, on the plastic triangle behind the side mirror. All these retainers are shown in the picture below.
Once you remove these parts, you will be able to pull on the door panel. Use a putty knife or a door clip removal tool, insert it between the panel and the metal on the door and work to detach the panel little by little. Be careful, the retaining clips can be difficult to remove. After you manage to unclip and detach the door panel, you will have to disconnect two harnesses behind it. One of them powers the mirror switch and the other one the master window switch (see image below).
Now you can make the desired repairs and reinstall the door panel, reversing the process above. You will have to plug back those harnesses, align the panel’s clips onto the wholes on the door, push it and secure it and in the end reinstall all those retainers. These are the steps you have to follow, if you wish to remove the front door panel on your Dodge Ram 1500, made between 1994 and 2001.
