Do it yourself, change the front sway bar on your Subaru Legacy, made between the years 2003 and 2009. This is a simple replacement, that you can make in about 20 minutes, using a 6 mm hex key and a 14 mm wrench.
First of all, you will have to lift your car with a jack or using the car elevator. After you secure it, get beneath and locate the sway bar. Its lower part should look like in the picture below. In order to remove it, you will have to insert the 6 mm hex key into the screw end and using the 14 mm wrench, undo the nut.
After you do it, move to the upper side. The procedure is exactly the same and the part looks as in the image below. Use the same tools and remove this nut too.
At this moment you can remove the sway bar completely and install the replacement. Compare the new piece with the old one, before. Make sure you buy and use only compatible parts. Use the same tools to reinstall the new sway bar and don’t forget to make a wheel alignment calibration after you finish the repair. This is all you have to do, if you wish to replace by yourself the sway bar on Subaru Legacy, manufactured between 2003 and 2006.
