Do it yourself, change the tail light assembly on your Toyota Tundra, the model made between the years 2000 and 2004. This repair will require a 10 mm wrench, or a socket with a ratchet. The process is very simple and can be done in less than 10 minutes.
In the beginning, open the tail gate of the car and start by removing the two 10 mm bolts that secure the tail light assembly, seen in the image below. You can do it using a wrench or a socket with a ratchet.
After you get rid of them, you can simply pull out the assembly and you will notice three electrical wires, harnesses, that power up the light bulbs (see picture below). Twist the socket of each bulb counterclockwise and remove them all, in order to release the tail light lens.
At this point you can service the light bulbs and install a new tail light. You just have to reconnect the bulbs and insert the assembly back into the body of the car (watch the guiding pins to align it correctly). At the end, secure it with the two bolts and you’ll be ready to go. This is all you have to do, if you need to remove and replace the tail light assembly on your Toyota Tundra, the model manufactured between the years 2000 and 2004.
