How to change the tail light assembly on Ford Ranger 1993-1997

Do it yourself, change the the tail light assembly on your Ford Ranger, the model made between the years 1993 and 1997. You can service this part very simply, if it’s damaged or for some personal reasons. You will need a Phillips screwdriver to make the replacement and about 15 minutes of your time.

Now, first of all you should know that the tail light is held by four Phillips screws. Two of them are on the exterior of the car and the other two to the interior and they can be accessed only after you open the tail gate. We marked their position in the next picture.

After you undo these screws, the tail light will come right out. Behind it, you will have to remove the light bulbs and their harnesses, as seen in the image below. You can do it by twisting their sockets counterclockwise.

At this point you can install the replacement. Install the light bulbs, align the new tail light, guide the screws into their wholes and secure the assembly. Make sure you don’t over tighten those screws, because you might brake the plastics. This is all you need to know and do, if you wish to remove and replace the tail light assembly on your Ford Ranger, produced between the years 1993 and 1997.
