How to change the tail light assembly on Ford F-150 2004-2008

DIY, change the tail light assembly on your Ford F-150. The replacement procedure we show you next is similar on models produced between the years 2004 and 2008. This particular repair is very simple. You just need to follow the next steps and you will make the replacement in no more than 10 minutes, using only an 8 mm socket wrench.

You can start the repair process by opening the tailgate of your car. Then look near the broken tail light for two bolts, like the ones marked with red circles in the image below. You have to remove them with an 8 mm wrench. They should come out easily.

After you do it, you can grab the assembly, pull it firmly towards you and detach it. There are four plastic pins that secure the lens into the car’s body. Just remember them when you install the replacement. At this point, you just have to unplug the two harnesses shown in the picture below, to release the tail light completely.

You can do it by twisting the bulbs’ sockets counterclockwise. Service the bulbs if needed and then you can simply install the new lens. Align it onto those pins, push it back in its place and secure it with the two 8 mm bolts. This is all you need to do, if you need to change by yourself the tail light assembly on Ford F-150, made between the years 2004 and 2008.
