How change the tail light assembly on Chevy S10 1998-2004

DIY, change the tail light assembly on your Chevrolet S10 Pickup. The repair process is similar on models produced between the years 1998 and 2004. You will require a Phillips screwdriver and about 10 minutes of your time.

First, you just have to open the tailgate of your car and remove the two Phillips screws that hold the tail light assembly, as shown in the picture below.

You should be able to remove them without much effort. After you do it, shake the tail light assembly up and down and detach it from the car. Behind it you will notice the electrical harnesses shown below.

In order to remove the plastic tail light housing completely, you will have to rotate the sockets of the bulbs counterclockwise. This is the moment in which you can install the replacement and also a good time to service any damaged light bulb, if you need to. After you finish all the repairs, connect back the harnesses into the new tail light. Then you have to align the assembly with the two guiding pins into their corresponding wholes in the car body and secure everything with the Phillips screws. This is all you need to know and do, if you wish to change by yourself the tail light assembly on Chevrolet S10 Pickup, manufactured between the years 1998 and 2004.
