Do it yourself, change the tail light assembly on your Chevrolet Monte Carlo, the model made in the years 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. This replacement will not require tools, just about 10 minutes of your time and a new tail light assembly.
In the beginning, you will have to open the trunk of your car and locate a thumb screw behind the damaged tail light, similar to the one shown in the image below. This plastic screw holds both the insulation and the tail light and you can remove it easily.
After you get rid of that screw, you can pull the insulation out a little bit, gaining you access to other two thumb screws, that you must remove (see picture below).
So, in order to detach the tail light from the car, you need to undo the three thumb screws, pull out the light and behind it, unplug the main electrical connector that powers up the entire assembly.
At this point, you can service the light bulbs if needed, by rotating their sockets counterclockwise. If not, you can install the new assembly into the body of the car and secure it with the three thumb screws. This is all you need to do, if you wish to change by yourself the tail light assembly on Chevrolet Monte Carlo, produced between the years 2000 and 2007.
