How to change the tail light assembly on Acura MDX 2003

How to change the left tail light assembly on Acura MDX manufactured in the year 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. You can make this repair in about 15 minutes, using a Phillips screwdriver and a small flat blade screwdriver.

How to change the tail light assembly on Acura MDX 2002

In the beginning, you have to open the back door of your car and look on the left side, near the tail light, after two small plastic covers (marked with red arrows in the next picture). Pry out the plastic pieces using a small flat headed screwdriver. That will reveal two Phillips screws, that actually hold the tail light assembly attached to the body of the car. We recommend you to use a magnetized Phillips screwdriver to remove these screws, as they can fall into the bumper.

At this moment, you can remove the tail light by pulling the assembly towards you. The piece will get out if you balance it to the left, where it has two safety pins. You will then notice, that it only holds in its electrical harnesses (see picture below). After you disconnect them, you are done.

If you need to service the tail light bulbs, you can do it very easily, by rotating their sockets counterclockwise. After you finish all the repairs, make sure you put everything back together as it should be, reversing the whole process. This is all you have to do, in order to change the left tail light on Acura MDX manufactured in 2003.
