DIY, remove and change the side mirror on your Chevy Equinox, the model made in the years 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. You will only require a 10 mm wrench or a socket wrench with a ratchet. The entire procedure will probably take you less that 15 minutes, if you follow the simple steps we show you next.
First of all, open the front door and pry out the triangle cover behind the mirror, as you can see in the image below. You can use your fingers or a flat blade screwdriver, if you find it easier.
After you detach this cover, you will notice an electrical wire attached to it, that powers a small speaker. Unplug that wire from both the connectors (the one on the cover and the one on the mirror). Then use a 10 mm wrench or a socket and remove the three nuts shown in the image below, that basically secure the mirror on the door of the car.
At this time, you can pull the old mirror away and install the new one. Align the new part with the three studs into the corresponding holes on the door, secure it with the nuts, plug back the connectors and reinstall the plastic cover. These are the steps you need to follow, if you wish to quickly remove and replace the side mirror on your Chevy Equinox, the model produced from the year 2003 until 2009.
