Do it yourself, change the rear door panel on your Ford Escape, the model produced between the years 2001 and 2004. You will need a flat blade screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver for this replacement. You should be able to remove the door panel quite easily, in less than 15 minutes.
In the beginning, you can pry out the plastic cover at the corner of the door, to the exterior. You can do it simply, by hand. After that, use the tip of a flat blade screwdriver and remove the small door-like cover behind the door handle. It will uncover a Phillips screw. Remove it with an appropriate screwdriver and then pull out the bezel around the handle. The door panel is secured by another screw, located at the bottom of the door pull. All the details are shown in the pictures below.
After you remove all these retainers, you will be able to insert your fingers behind the panel and pry it out, little by little. Before removing it completely, you will have to unplug an electrical harness, behind it, that powers the window switch (see image below).
At this point, you can make the desired repairs and reinstall the panel, reversing the steps above. These are the steps you have to follow, if you wish to remove and reinstall the rear door panel on your Ford Escape, the model made between the years 2001 and 2004.
