DIY, change the parking light on Subaru Outback 1996-1999

Do it yourself, change the parking light assembly on your Subaru Outback, the car produced between the years 1996 and 1999. This replacement requires a Phillips screwdriver and probably less that 10 minutes, because is very simple.

First of all, open the hood of the car, to gain access to the top of the parking light assembly. There, you will have to remove the Phillips screw indicated in the picture below, that secures the assembly. You can do it with an appropriate screwdriver.

After you remove the screw, you should be able to pull out the assembly. In some cases, you might find it difficult to do it by hand, so you could pry it out using the tip of a flat headed screwdriver. Behind it, you will notice the electrical harness seen in the next image, powering the light bulb. Twist the bulb out and release the old parking light.

Installing the replacement is an easy task. You have to connect back the light bulb, align the parking light correctly (it has a guiding pin on the exterior side, to the back and a plastic mounting bracket to the interior), push it in its place and secure it with the screw, on the top. These are the steps you need to follow, if you plan to service by yourself the parking light assembly on Subaru Outback, the model made between 1996 and 1999.
