DIY, change the side mirror on your Pontiac Sunfire, the model with the manual window and mirror, produced between the years 1995 and 2005. The replacement is fairly easy and you can do it in less than 15 minutes if you follow the instructions below. The only tools you’ll need are a Phillips screwdriver and a 10 mm socket with a ratchet.
In the beginning, open the front door with the damaged mirror and remove the triangle shaped plastic cover on the top corner. You can do it by removing a screw, using a Phillips screwdriver (see next picture).
After you detach that cover, you will gain access to the three 10 mm nuts that hold the side mirror, as you can see in image below. Undo them using an appropriate socket wrench or a regular wrench. Just be careful not to somehow drop these nuts into the door’s interior.
When you get to the last nut, support the mirror from outside, because it will fall, of course. So, remove the old mirror and install the replacement. Tighten its bolts, but do not over tighten them, because you will damage the plastics. Reinstall that small cover and you are ready to go. This is all you need to do, if you wish to change the manual side mirror on your Pontiac Sunfire, manufactured between the years 1995 and 2005.
