Do it yourself, change the headlight assembly on your Chevrolet Impala, produced between the years 2000 and 2005. You will require a flat blade screwdriver for this repair and about 20 minutes, if you follow the easy steps below.
First of all you will have to open the hood and locate the plastic pin shown in the image below. You can use the flat headed screwdriver to do it. Just pull the middle piece out first and then the whole part.
This clip holds a plastic cover that goes above the headlight a little bit, just enough to cover one of the plastic tabs that secure the headlight assembly. Lift up this cover and remove the tabs shown in the picture below, in order to release the headlight. Just pull them up with your fingers.
Now you can detach the assembly. It should come out quite easily. After you do it, behind it, unplug the harness indicated below and that’s it.
If you wish to service the light bulbs, you can easily remove the rubber dust covers and turn the bulb’s sockets counterclockwise. If not, you can replace the entire assembly with a new one, connect back the electrical harness and secure everything with the two plastic tabs. At the end, don’t forget to reinstall that plastic pin. This is all you need to do, if you wish to change the headlight assembly on your Chevy Impala, made between the years 2000 and 2005.
