Do it yourself, change the headlight assembly on your Chevrolet Monte Carlo, the model made in the years 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005. You might need a flat headed screwdriver to make this replacement. The entire repair process should not take you more than 15 minutes.
You can start this repair by opening the hood of your car. As you probably noticed, the headlight assembly is held by two plastic tabs. We marked and detailed their location in the picture below.
Now, if you just need to service the main light bulb, you can access it from behind, but you won’t be able to reach the high beam that easy. So, the best solution is to remove those two tabs and pull out the headlight. The tab on the right is visible and can be pulled out easily, by hand. The one on the left (to the interior of the car) is located under that plastic cover. So, lift the cover a little bit, in order to access the tab. You can use a flat headed screwdriver to pry it up or you can do it just by hand. After you get rid of the tabs, detach the assembly and disconnect the main harness behind it, as you can see below.
This is the moment when you can service the light bulbs or make the required repairs, then reinstall the new headlight in its place and you should be ready to go. This is all you need to do, if you wish to change the headlight assembly on your Chevrolet Monte Carlo, produced between the years 2000 and 2005.
