Do it yourself, change the headlight assembly on your Pontiac Grand Prix, manufactured between the years 2004 and 2008. The repair process is easy and can be done without tools, in about 15 minutes. Though, in some cases you might require a flat headed screwdriver or a pair of pliers.
First of all, open the hood of your car and locate the plastic retainer that holds the headlight of your car. You can see its location in the image below. You should pull up this tab without much effort, but only a certain amount. You don’t need to remove it completely. If something goes wrong and you cannot pull it up, you can use the tools mentioned in the beginning of this post.
After you deal with the retainer, you can simply detach the headlight assembly from the body of the car. Pull it out and unplug the electrical harness behind it, marked in the next picture.
Now, you can replace the entire headlight with a new one. Before inserting the assembly into the body of the car, plug back the main electrical harness. Next, pay attention, because the assembly has two locating metal pins that has to fit into the locating wholes in the car’s frame. You should first put the outside of the headlight into the fender and then you can have a look inside and align the other pin correctly. Push the assembly in and at the end, secure it with the holding tab. This is all you have to do if you need to change the headlight on your Pontiac Grand Prix, made between the years 2004 and 2008.
