DIY, change the headlight assembly on Chevy Lumina 1990-1994

Do it yourself, change the headlight assembly on your Chevrolet Lumina, manufactured between the years 1990 and 1994. You will need a 10 mm socket wrench with an extension and a Phillips screwdriver to make this repair. The whole process will probably take you about 20 minutes.

First of all, open the hood of your car. You can start by removing three Phillips screws that hold a plastic cover over the front side of the car (the ones marked with blue circles in the image below). This will give you just enough space to access and remove the headlight. The assembly is held by six 10 mm screws (marked with red circles). You can remove them easily using a socket wrench and an extension for the two behind the headlight.

After you get rid of these fasteners, get behind the headlight and unplug the two light bulbs by twisting their sockets counterclockwise. Next, you can just pull out the lens firmly. At this point, in order to finish your repair, you will have to reinstall the new parts back. Service the bulbs if needed and install the new assembly onto the car. You should first insert the inside part behind the grille, as seen in the picture below and tilt the assembly towards the car a little.

Then push it inside, secure it with the six bolts and plug back the light bulbs. In the end, secure the plastic cover with those screws and that’s it. This is all you have to do, in order to change the headlight assembly on your Chevrolet Lumina, made between 1990 and 1994.
