Do it yourself, change the glass of the side mirror on your Volkswagen Polo Mk4, if it’s the model produced between the years 2001 and 2005. You ca do this replacement very easily, with your bare hands. You will only require a new glass for your car’s damaged mirror. If you find it useful you could keep at hand a flat blade screwdriver and a pair of protective gloves. The entire replacement process won’t take you more than 5 minutes.
At the beginning you will have to detach the damaged glass from the mirror. You can do it by inserting your fingers behind it, as in the image below. If the glass is broken, we recommend you to use gloves, or a screwdriver to get out the small glass pieces.
A screwdriver might also help, in case the glass is intact and you wish to remove it that way. Act gently on it, because it can break very easily. After you do it, disconnect the two wires behind it, used to heat and defrost the mirror. If not, you can simply install the replacement. Put the glass on the alignment, as shown in the picture below and press on it from both directions until it is secured.
