How to change the glass of the side mirror on Vauxhall Astra Mk6

Do it yourself, change the broken glass of the side mirror on your Vauxhall Astra Mk6 or Opel Astra J. This replacement can be done in a couple of minutes by anyone and without any tools. We recommend you though, to use a pair of hand gloves when you remove the glass, to protect your hands. In most of the cases, the glass brakes, if it’s not already broken.

Start by prying out the glass you wish to replace. You can do it by hand, by inserting your fingers behind it, as you can see in the picture below. For safety reasons, you might consider using a pair of hand gloves or a flat blade screwdriver to release that glass.

After you detach it, look behind for the two wires that heat and defrost it. They should look like the ones seen in the image below. Unplug them by hand and remove the glass completely.

At this point you can install the replacement, so connect the two heating wires to the new glass, align it onto the mounting support on the mirror and press on it until you secure it there. These are the simple steps you have to follow, if you wish to replace by yourself the glass of the side mirror on Vauxhall Astra Mk6. You can check the video below for details about this particular replacement.
