Do it yourself, change the glass of the side mirror on your Holden Astra, if it’s the model manufactured between the years 1998 and 2005. This replacement doesn’t require tools but you can use a flat blade screwdriver and hand gloves, if the situation requires it. You should be able to make this replacement in less than 5 minutes, if you follow the simple steps below.
In the beginning, you will have to get rid of the old glass. You can pry it out very easily, by inserting your fingers behind it, just like in the image below. We do not recommend it though, especially if the mirror is broken. You should definitely use a flat headed screwdriver or a pair of gloves to protect your hands from the pieces of glass.
If the glass is still intact, after you detach it from the plastic support, you will have to disconnect the two wires that power it, used for heating and defrosting (see picture below).
At this point, you can install the replacement mirror. Plug back the two wires on the new glass, position it as you can see below and push on it until it is secured.
