Do it yourself, change the glass of the left side mirror on your Toyota Camry manufactured between the years 1997 and 2001. This procedure is fairly simple and you can make it in about 10 minutes. You will need a flat blade screwdriver or a small pick tool and a pair of thick gloves, for this replacement.
First of all, you will have to detach the old, probably broken glass. In order to do it, insert a pick tool or a flat blade screwdriver behind it and detach the metal hooks indicated in the picture below, from their tabs. Do not forget to wear protective gloves, because the glass shards from a broken mirror could cut you easily.
Once the hooks have been released, pop the mirror out of the housing. If you need to take out the glass intact, act gently and patiently on it. Applying too much force, will easily break it. The final step is about installing the replacement. You can reinstall the metal retainers on the back of the glass (as seen in the next image).
Then, align the glass properly on the mirror’s motor and press on it using your both hands, one hand placed on the plastic cover of the mirror and one hand on the glass, until it is fixed. This is all you need to know if you need to change the glass of the left side mirror on your Toyota Camry manufactured between the years 1997 and 2001.
