Do it yourself, change the front bumper marker light on your Volkswagen Passat, the model produced between the years 2002 and 2005. The replacement is very simple and it will only require a flat blade screwdriver. You should be able to replace the part in less than 5 minutes. The front side marker light is located inside the front bumper cover. It can be accessed and removed quite easily by hand. You just have to push it inside the bumper a little bit and move it towards the front of the car at the same time (as pointed in the image below). It should slide inside the bumper a few millimeters, just enough to get out of the clips from the other side, to the interior of the car.
In some cases, you might find it easier to use a flat blade screwdriver to slide it, inserted as you can see in the picture below.
After you do it, pull out the electrical cable with the light bulb and remove the assembly completely. Service the light bulb if needed and install the replacement.
The new side marker has to be reconnected with the electrical wire and inserted inside the bumper, first with the side to the front of the car. You should then slide it to the interior and make sure it is secured in its clips. These are the steps you need to follow, if you wish to service the front bumper side marker light assembly on your Volkswagen Passat, the car model manufactured between the years 2002 and 2005.
