DIY, change the fog lights on Volvo XC90 2003-2013

DIY, remove and change the fog lights on your Volvo XC90, the model made between 2003 and 2013. You will need A T25 torx driver with a ratchet and extensions to make this replacement. The process is not that difficult, but it might take you more than half an hour.

We recommend you to lift the car on a jack stand or elevator, to have better access beneath the front bumper. This action is not needed, is will just make it easier for you to service the part. So, start underneath the bumper, by unplugging the harness that powers up the light bulb, as seen in the image below.

Push in on the metal tab that secures the harness and pull it out. Now is the proper time to service the light bulb, if you only need to do that (twist its socket counterclockwise). If you wish to service the entire assembly, you will have to remove the three T25 torx screws seen in the pictures below, that secure it on the front bumper. You will most probably require extensions for the tool you use, because at least one of the screws will give you troubles, when trying to remove it.

Once you loosen these retainers, you can pull out the old tail light. Just install the new one reversing the steps above and you’ll be ready to go. These are the steps you need to follow, if you wish to easily remove and replace the fog light assembly on your Volvo XC90, the model made between the years 2003 and 2013.
