DIY, change the air filter on your GMC Sierra 5.3L, made between the years 2007 and 2014. The replacement is very simple and you can do it in under 10 minutes. You will require a new, compatible air filter from your local auto parts shop and a torx scredriver.
Open the hood of your car and look for the air filter box. This plastic box is the compartment where the air filter is located. You will have to remove four torx bolts that hold the cover of the box, all marked with red arrows in the picture below, using an appropriate torx screwdriver.
After you take out all the screws, you will be able to lift up the cover of the air filter box. This will give you access to the filter, as shown in the next image.
This is the moment when you can basically replace the old air filter, but only after you check and make sure the replacement looks the same. Always compare the old filter with the new one, just to be sure. To finish the replacement process, just reverse the steps presented above. Install the filter properly, place the cover of the air box back and tighten its screws. This is all you have to do, in order to change the air filter on your GMC Sierra 5.3L V8 manufactured between 2007 and 2014.
