Do it yourself, change the air filter on your Ford Escape made in the years 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. This particular repair will not require tools, because you can do it very easily in about 5 minutes using only your bare hands.
First of all, open the hood of your car and locate the air box, which is on the passenger’s side, behind the battery. This plastic box holds the air filter. You will have to remove two clips on the upper side, that hold it, marked with red arrows in the picture below.
After you unclip them, you will be able to lift up the plastic part of the air box and get access to the air filter, as shown in the next image.
This is the moment you can basically remove and replace the old air filter, but only after you make sure the replacement is compatible. You should compare the old filter with the new one, just to be sure. Install the new filter and finish the repair, by reversing the steps presented above. Place the air box back, sealing the filter and secure those clips on top of it. These are the steps you need to follow if you wish to change quickly and easy the air filter on your Ford Escape manufactured between the years 2000 and 2006.
