DIY, replace the glass of the left side mirror on Chevrolet Astra G 2nd generation. This is a fairly simple repair, that you can make in about 5 minutes and does not require tools. You can use at most a flat blade screwdriver, if you find it easier.
First of all, you will have to detach the old, probably broken glass. You can do this by inserting your fingers behind it, as shown in the next picture.
If you need to take out the glass intact, you should act gently on it. Pry it out slowly using a flat blade screwdriver, because applying too much force on it, will break it. You will be able to remove the glass after you disconnect the two electrical wires used for heating, as shown below.
The final step is about installing the replacement. You will have to reconnect the electrical wires used for heating and defrosting the mirror. On the back of the glass you will notice two sockets and a button in the middle. They have to fit into the two buttons and a middle socket located on the mirror, as detailed in the next image.
So, align the glass properly and press on it using your both hands, one hand placed on the plastic cover of the mirror and one hand on the glass, until it is fixed. This is everything you need to know if you have to replace the glass of the left side mirror on your Opel Astra G 2nd generation. Please, watch the next tutorial for a detailed presentation about the replacement.
