Do it yourself, remove the front door panel on your Hyundai Santa Fe, produced between the years 2001 and 2006. You will require a flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver and a prying tool or a putty knife. Although removing the door panel is a simple process, it might take you about 20 minutes or more.
First of all, open the front door of the car, on the passenger’s side (the driver’s side is very similar) and pry out the triangle shaped plastic cover behind the mirror. Detach it and disconnect the harness that powers the small speaker. Then, you can pry out the plastic cover inside the small door handle, which will reveal a Phillips screw. Remove this screw and the one at the bottom of the big door handle. We marked these details on the picture below.
After you remove the screws and the covers you can go on the right side of the door panel and pry out the plastics shown in the image below. There are also two of them on the left, opposite side. Behind them there are Phillips screws that you must undo.
At this point, using a putty knife or a prying tool, you can start to detach the panel from the door frame. It should come out quite easily. After you separate it, lift the panel a little bit and after you disconnect the two wires shown below, you will be able to remove it completely.
Make the repairs needed and reinstall everything back carefully, reversing the whole process presented above. These are the steps you need to follow if you wish to remove the front door panel on your Hyundai Santa Fe, made between 2001 and 2006.
