DIY, remove the front door panel on your Chrysler PT Cruiser, the model made between the years 2001 and 2005. To complete this task you will require a flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver and a 10 mm socket wrench, with a ratchet. Even though we talk about a rather simple process, removing and replacing the door panel might take you more than half an hour.
The removal process starts by opening the front door of your car, on the driver’s side. You have to pry out the small triangle panel, located in the top corner, behind the mirror. It usually snaps off by hand, but if you find it difficult, you can use a flat blade screwdriver. Then, you should remove the two 10 mm bolts at the bottom of the arm rest (as you can see in the image below).
After you remove these retainers, you have to undo four Phillips screws, three of them located alongside the right extremity of the panel, to the interior and one of then behind the small door handle, as seen below.
Now is the moment to use a putty knife or simply, your fingers and insert them between the door panel and the door frame. Pull out the panel towards you and after you detach it from its clips, lift it up. Behind it you will notice an electrical harness and a rod, as seen in the picture below. They must be removed in order to separate the door panel completely.
Now you can make the desired repairs on the door and then you can reinstall the door panel reversing the steps shown above. This is all you have to do, if you wish to remove the front door panel on your Chrysler PT Cruiser, the model produced between the years 2001 and 2005.
