Do it yourself, remove the door panel on your Toyota Corolla, made between the years 1998 and 2002. This is a process that can be done in about 15 minutes, using a flat blade screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver.
In this tutorial we show you how to remove the door panel for the front, driver’s side, but the process should be similar for the passenger’s front and the rears. So, you can start by opening the driver’s door and by removing the small inside door handle. You can do it very simply, using a Phillips screwdriver on the screw seen in the picture below. After you get rid of that fastener, pull out the door handle and remove the metal rod behind it. It has a retaining clip. Use the tip of the flat blade screwdriver to release it.
Then, pry out the triangle shaped plastic cover on the top corner of the door, to the interior and the clip on the edge of the door panel, to the exterior, as seen in the image below.
After you remove these elements, you have to pry out the window switch, as you can see below, disconnect the harness beneath it and then pry out the arm rest. The last one hides two Phillips screws that you must undo, in order to be able to pull out the door panel.
The panel comes out quite easily. You just have to insert your fingers behind it, or a putty knife if you find it easier and pull towards you. After you release it from its clips, lift it and remove it completely. Reinstalling is just about reversing the steps detailed above. These are the steps you need to follow if you wish to remove and reinstall the door panel on your Toyota Corolla, the model produced between 1998 and 2002.
