DIY, change the tail light assembly on your Honda Accord, produced between the years 1998 and 2002. The repair requires an 8 mm socket wrench with a ratchet, or a simple wrench, and a flat blade screwdriver. The replacement is simple and can be done in less than 30 minutes.
You can start by opening the trunk of your car. The first thing you wanna do is to move aside the insulation behind the tail light. You can do it by removing two plastic pins that hold it, as you can see in the picture below. You can do it using a flat blade screwdriver.
After you remove them and detach the insulation you will have access to the back of the tail light. Now, if you just look to service the light bulbs, you can twist them counterclockwise and replace them, but if you wish to replace the tail light, you will have to remove the three 8 mm bolts that hold it (see image below).
Use an appropriate wrench to do it and then pull the assembly out from the body of the car and install a new one. You will have to align it properly, secure it with the bolts, reinstall the light bulbs and place the insulation back, to cover everything. This is all you need to do, in order to remove and replace the tail light assembly on your Honda Accord, the model manufactured between 1998 and 2002.
