This is how you can change the tail light assembly on your Honda Civic. The replacement process we show you below is similar for Civic models produced by Honda between the years 2001 and 2005. This repair will require an 8 mm socket wrench and because the procedure is very simple, you will be able to do it in less than 10 minutes.
You will start after you open the trunk of the car. You have to remove the two light bulbs first and you can do it simply, by twisting their sockets counterclockwise (see image below).
After you pull them out from the tail light, you have to remove the three nuts that secure the assembly, seen in the next picture. They can be removed using an 8 mm socket with a ratchet. You can just loosen them a little bit and then finish them by hand. You can repeat this process when you install the replacement.
This is the moment when you can simply pull up and out the tail light and install a new one. You just have to secure the new part with the three nuts and install back the light bulbs, this time by twisting their sockets clockwise. This is how you can remove and replace the tail light assembly on your Honda Civic, the model made in the years 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005.
