Do it yourself, remove and replace the the tail light assembly on your Dodge Intrepid, the car produced between the years 1994 and 1997. The only tool required for this replacement is a flat blade screwdriver. The whole process will take you less than 15 minutes.
First, you will have to open the trunk of the car, because you need access behind the tail light you wish to replace. There are two thumb screws that hold both the insulation and the tail light. You must remove them, pull the insulation away and you will notice another two thumb screws on the corner of the trunk (see image below). Remove them also, in order to release the tail light assembly.
After you remove the four thumb screws in the trunk, get outside and pull out the assembly. Behind it, you will notice the two harnesses powering the light bulbs (there are three light bulbs), as you can see in the picture below. Remove the bulbs by twisting their sockets and install a new tail light.
The new assembly can come without the bottom side, the one with the reflective lens. You can use the one from the old assembly, if its intact, because it can be separated easily, using a flat blade screwdriver. The whole assembly should then be inserted into the body of the car (after you connect the light bulbs, of course) and secured with the four thumb screws. These are the simple steps you need to follow, if you wish to remove and replace by yourself the tail light assembly on Dodge Intrepid, the model made between the years 1994 and 1997.
