Do it yourself, change the side mirror on your GMC Yukon, the model produced between the years 2000 and 2003. This particular replacement will require a 10 mm socket wrench with a ratchet and an extension and about 15 minutes of your time.
You can start the repair by opening the front door of your Yukon, on the driver’s side and by prying out the triangle shaped plastic cover, shown in the picture below. You can do it by hand or you can use a small flat headed screwdriver.
After you remove that cover you will notice a small piece of insulation. Take it out and you will come across three 10 mm bolts and the electrical harness that powers up the mirror, as you can see below. Unplug that connector and, using an appropriate socket wrench with an extension, undo the three nuts that hold the mirror.
Be careful not to drop these nuts into the door panel when you remove them and when you undo the last one, support the mirror from outside, because it can fall. Now it is the time to install the replacement and put everything back together. Connect the electrical harness onto the new mirror, secure it with the three nuts and reinstall the plastic cover on the door. This is all you need to do, if you wish to remove and replace the side mirror on your GMC Yukon, manufactured between the years 2000 and 2003.
