Do it yourself, change the side marker light assembly on your Chevrolet Malibu, the model made between 1997 and 2003. For this replacement you will need a T15 torx driver, a new side marker light assembly and probably less than 10 minutes, because the process is very simple.
First of all, you need to know that the side marker light assembly can be accessed from outside the front bumper. You just have to remove the little screw shown in the image below, using a T15 torx screwdriver.
Once you remove that screw, the assembly can be pulled out from the bumper easily. Behind it you will notice the electrical harness shown in the picture below, that powers the light bulb. In order to release the side marker, you will have to twist the socket of the light bulb counterclockwise and remove it.
Now is the time to service the bulb, if needed, or to install the replacement side marker assembly. Connect back the light bulb, insert the assembly into the bumper and secure it with that screw. These are the simple steps you have to follow, if you plan to remove and replace the side marker light assembly on your Chevy Malibu, the car manufactured between the years 1997 and 2003.
