DIY, change the power window switch on your Ford Explorer, made between the years 1995 and 2001. The only tool you’ll need for this replacement is a flat headed screwdriver. You can do this repair by yourself, very easily, in a couple of minutes.
So, if you have problems with the mirror switch on the door, because is damaged, worn out, or for some other reason, you have to know that it can be replaced quite easily. You need to open the driver’s door and pry out the switch using a flat headed screwdriver. You can use a soft rag to wrap the tip of the screwdriver, if you wanna be extra careful with the plastic parts on the door. Get underneath the switch, as you can see in the image below and pull it out.
After you detach the part, behind it, you will find the electrical harness seen in the picture below. The connector has a small plastic “tooth” that secures it, but you should be able to remove it without much effort.
At this point, you can install the replacement. Make sure you use a compatible part. Plug it to the electrical harness and install it back into the door panel. This is all you need to do, if you plan to change or repair the power mirror switch on your Ford Explorer, the model produced between the years 1995 and 2000.
