DIY, change the master window switch on your Toyota 4Runner, the model produced between the years 1996 and 2002. You will require a new switch from your local hardware store, flat blade and Phillips screwdrivers. You can do the repair very easily, in no more than 15 minutes.
First of all, open the driver’s door of your car and go to the master window switch. The first thing you must do is to pry out the plastic part of the switch using a flat blade screwdriver, as shown in the image below. You should start from the right side, to the interior of the car, because on the other side, there is a securing clamp. If you wish, you can use a rag to wrap the screwdriver, in order to protect the plastic parts on the door panel.
After you carefully pry and lift the assembly, you will come across two electrical harnesses, as shown in the picture below. Unplug them with your fingers or using the same flat screwdriver and detach the window switch.
After you do it, you can install the new module. Connect the electrical harness to the replacement switch and install it back into the door panel. This is everything you need to know, if you wish to replace the master window switch on your Toyota 4Runner, manufactured between the years 1996 and 2002.
