Do it yourself, change the left side mirror on a Honda Element manufactured in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. You will need a small flat screwdriver and an 8 mm socket wrench. The repair is quite easy. It should not take more than 15 minutes.
In the first step of the repair you need to pry out the triangle-shaped plastic cover on the door, by inserting your flat screwdriver or a prying tool on the left, upper part of the piece, as shown in the next picture.
Pull carefully towards you until the three plastic buttons behind the piece pop up, uncovering three bolts and an electrical connector, shown in the image below. You will be able to remove the nuts of the bolts using the 8 mm socket wrench. Pay attention when you unscrew them, as the nuts can fall down in the door panel.
At the end, in order to remove the mirror assembly, you have to disconnect the electrical harness and you are done. Underneath the connector is a small clip that you have to push up using your finger or the flat head screwdriver and you will be able to remove the harness. Be very careful, because now the mirror has no nuts to secure it and it might fall down. After you install the replacement mirror you just have to reverse the process carefully. Connect back the harness and tighten the screw nuts (do not over tight them, as you might break the mirror assembly). Do not forget about the triangle piece that covers everything. Install it back and that’s it. This is all you need to do in order to change the left mirror on a Honda Element 2003-2011.
