Do it yourself, change the headlight assembly on your Toyota Sequoia, made between the years 2001 and 2004. You will require a Phillips screwdriver and a 10 mm wrench, or a socket with a ratchet, of the same size. The replacement is quite easy, but it might take you more than half an hour, depending on the situation.
You will have to start above the headlight, with the hood opened. Because on this car, the headlight is attached to the parking light, you will have to remove that one first. You can do that using a Phillips screwdriver on the clip shown in the image below. It is located on top of the headlight and secures the parking light onto the body of the car. After you pull it out, work on the parking light, release it from the fender and unplug the two harnesses behind it, that power the bulbs.
After you do that, you will have to go behind the headlight and unplug its harness too (the one seen in the image below). You should be able to reach it with your hand, without using any tool.
Now, the next step will be to remove the four 10 mm bolts that hold the assembly onto the body of the car. You can use a wrench, but it will be probably a lot easier with a socket and a ratchet. One bolt is located on top of the headlight, next to the plastic pin that secures the parking light, two of them are on the side, next to the radiator and the fourth is on the side to the exterior of the car.
After you remove the retainers, pull out the headlight and replace it with the new one. The new assembly can be installed just like the original. Insert it into the body of the car, secure it with the bolts and plug back the connector behind it. Only now, with the parking light off, you can also adjust the new headlight, if needed. You can do it with a 10 mm wrench, working onto an adjusting bolt located behind the lens, on the side, to the exterior of the car. In the end, install the parking light back and that’s it. This is all you need to do, if you wish to remove and replace the headlight assembly on your Toyota Sequoia, the model from 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.
