DIY, change the headlight assembly on your Subaru Outback, the model made between the years 2001 and 2004. This replacement is quite simple and can be done in less than half an hour, using only a 10 mm wrench, or a socket of the same size.
You will need access above the headlight you wish to replace, so first, open and secure the hood of the car. Then, using a 10 mm wrench or a socket, remove the three bolts seen in the image below, that secure the assembly on the body of the car.
After you do it, pull out the assembly. It should come out without much effort. Behind it, you will come across the wires that power up the light bulbs. You can remove the bulbs by twisting their sockets counterclockwise, or you can unplug their harnesses, if you have brand new light bulbs on the replacement headlight.
This is the moment when you can plug back the bulbs and install the headlight into the body of the car. Align it correctly and then secure it with the three bolts. This is all you need to do, if you wish to replace the headlight assembly on your Subaru Outback, the model produced between the years 2001 and 2004.
