Do it yourself, change the headlight on your Chevy Malibu, manufactured between the years 2004 and 2008. You will need a 10 mm wrench, or a socket of the same size and less than 15 minutes, to make this replacement.
In the beginning, open the hood of the car, go above the headlight that needs to be replaced and remove the two 10 mm bolts that secure it, seen in the image below. They should come out easily, using the proper tool.
Then you can simply lift the light up and pull it out, towards you. Behind it, you will find an electrical harness, as you can see in the next picture, that you must unplug.
If you need to service the light bulbs, you will have to twist their covers counterclockwise first and then their sockets. If not, just work to install the new headlight assembly. Reconnect the main electrical harness, align the lens into the body of the car, using the two guiding pins at its bottom side and secure everything with the two bolts above. These are the simple steps you need to follow, if you wish to remove and replace the headlight assembly on your Chevy Malibu, the model produced between the years 2004 and 2008.
