Do it yourself, change the headlight assembly on your Nissan Maxima, produced in the years 2000 and 2001. This repair is simple and requires a 10 mm wrench or a socket, a flat headed screwdriver and about 15 minutes of your time.
First of all, you have to open the hood of your car and locate the two 10 mm bolts that hold the headlight. We marked their position in the picture below. They should come out without much effort, using a wrench or a socket wrench with a ratchet.
After you remove them, you can work to detach the headlight assembly. It is clipped on its bottom side to the front bumper and on the side, to the fender. Pull it out firmly and remove the electrical harness on the middle, the one marked with the red circle below. If it causes problems, you can use a flat blade screwdriver to unplug it. At the end, twist out the signal bulb socket (marked below with the blue circle) and remove the headlight completely.
Service the bulbs if needed, plug back the harnesses onto the new headlight and install it on the car’s body, securing it with the two bolts. Be careful, because you should first slide the assembly into the front bumper and then push it firmly into the fender. This is all you need to do, if you have to change the headlight assembly on your Nissan Maxima, made in the years 2000 and 2001.
