Do it yourself, change the headlight assembly on your Dodge Durango, the model produced between the years 2004 and 2006. This replacement will require about half an hour, though the process is not difficult. You will only need a 10 mm socket wrench with a ratchet and extension.
You will start after you open the hood, by removing the two 10 mm bolts located on the front, at the bottom side of the headlight lens, as you can see in the picture below. They should come out easily using a socket wrench.
After you do it, turn the wheel behind the headlight to the interior of the car, because you will have to access a plastic cover in front of it. It hides another 10 mm retainer that you must remove, to be able to pull out the headlight assembly (see details in the images below).
At this point, once you remove these retainers, you can pull out the assembly and access the light bulbs behind. If the replacement assembly comes with new light bulbs, you will have to disconnect the harnesses on the old ones (you might need a flat blade screwdriver to remove the red safety tab on each harness). If not, you can just twist the sockets of the light bulbs counterclockwise and install them on the new assembly.
At the end, insert the new headlight into the body of the car, helped by its guiding pins located behind, secure it with the three retainers and reinstall that cover in front of the wheel, to finish the repairs. These are the steps you need to follow, if you wish to remove and replace the headlight assembly on your Dodge Durango, the model made between the years 2004 and 2006.
