In order to change the glass of the right small mirror on a VW Rabbit Mk4 you will need only a flathead screwdriver. The repair is simple and requires 5 to 10 minutes of your time.
The first thing you have to do is to remove the old glass by inserting the flat screwdriver, or your bare hands behind it. If you want to take out the glass of the mirror intact, we recommend you to pry on the right side of the mirror, as in the picture below.
Be advised that the glass will break very easily if you apply too much force on it. The piece will come out intact only if you pry out slowly, with patience. The last step to remove the glass is to disconnect the two electrical wires that heat the mirror, as shown in the next image.
The last step of the repair is of course installing the replacement. Make sure you push back the electrical connectors into their place and then align the glass as it should (see below picture).
You must position the glass on the alignment as the original and your hands as shown in the next image and press from both directions until the piece is fixed. This is all that it takes to replace the glass of the mirror on a VW Rabbit Mk IV.
