Do it yourself, change the front grille on your Chevy Malibu, the model made between the years 2000 and 2003. This is a simple repair that can be done quickly and easily in the back of your garage, using a flat blade screwdriver and a 10 mm wrench, or a socket with an extension.
The replacement process starts by opening and securing the hood of your car. You will have to get above the front grille and remove the four plastic clips shown in the image below. They secure the grille and can be removed using the tip of a flat blade screwdriver. You just have to pry up the middle of each clip with the screwdriver and you should be able to pull them up and out.
After you remove these four clips, you can just grab the grille and pull it up and out. It has some guiding tabs down below. Now, if you just need to replace the grille entirely, you have to install the replacement reversing the steps below. But there are cases when you need to replace the car symbol, or to transfer it to a new grille. In order to do that, you will have to remove five 10 mm nuts, looking like those two shown in the picture below, that hold the chrome bar with the symbol.
So, make the desired repairs or replacements and then reinstall the new grille. These are the steps you have to follow if you plan to replace the front grille on your Chevy Malibu, the car produced between the years 2000 and 2003.
