Do it yourself, change the back side marker light assembly on your Volkswagen Beetle. This repair process is for models made between the years 1998 and 2005. If you damage the rear side marker or you just wish to replace it for personal reasons, you can follow the simple steps we show you below. The process will require a flat blade screwdriver and probably a couple of minutes.
In the beginning, you will have to pry out the old side marker from the bumper, using the tip of a flat blade screwdriver. You can use a thin rag wrapped around it, in order to protect the paint. The tip of the screwdriver should be inserted as you can see in the image below, from the inside of the bumper. The side marker lens has a small bracket there, that once pushed, it will release it.
After you detach the lens, you just have to twist the socket of its light bulb counterclockwise, as seen below. Change the bulb if needed, if not, install the new side marker into the rear bumper, reversing the process above.
You will have to insert the side opposite to that small bracket, first. Then, you will just have to push the other side into the bumper and that’s it. These are the simple steps you can follow, if you wish to remove and replace the rear side marker light on your Volkswagen Beetle, the car produced between 1998 and 2005.
