Do it yourself, change the air filter on your Porsche Carrera 911, the model produced between the years 1998 and 2005. You will require a flat blade screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver. The replacement will probably take you about 15 minutes, if you follow the steps described below.
First of all, open the hood on the back of your car and locate the air box, shown in the next picture. This black plastic box contains the air filter. You will have to loosen the six Phillips bolts marked below with red arrows and release the oil tube marked with the blue arrow. In order to remove the lid of the air box, you will also have to loosen the two collars of the intake hose, using the flat blade screwdriver (see the green circles).
After you remove all of them, you will be able to lift up the cover. This will give you access to the air filter, as you can see below.
At this moment you can install the replacement air filter. It is better to compare the two filters, just to be sure. In order to finish the repair, just reverse the steps above. Plug back the intake hose, align the cover of the air box and secure it with the bolts. Make sure the hoses are well tightened and the oil tube reinstalled. That is everything you need to do, if you wish to change the air filter on your Porsche Carrera 911, manufactured between the years 1998 and 2005.
