Do it yourself, change the air filter on your Ford Super Duty, if it’s the model with the 6L diesel engine, manufactured between the years 2003 and 2007. You will require a new air filter, a flat blade screwdriver and pliers. The replacement is quite simple and it will take you about 10 minutes.
Open the hood of your car at first, and go next to the battery, to locate the air filter. To be able to remove and replace it, you have to unplug the mass airflow sensor, marked with the red arrow in the picture below. You can do it by hand, very easily. Also, it is necessary to remove the small cooling hose above, marked with the blue arrow, using a pair of pliers and the metal collar of the intake hose, marked with yellow. This last task can be done easily, using a flat blade screwdriver.
In the end, you will have to remove by hand, the four metal clamps that actually hold the filter, shown in the image below. Maneuver the air filter until you release it from its location.
At this moment you can replace the old filter and install the replacement one. Buy and use compatible filters only. Finish the replacement process by re-clamping the filter (make sure you position it as the old one; verify the position arrow on the filter, just in case). Tighten the collar of the intake hose, install back the small cooling hose and the mass airflow sensor and you are done. This is all you need to do, if you plan to change by yourself the air filter on your Ford Super Duty, made between the years 2003 and 2007.
